If your marble floor is accidently scratched, becomes deeply soiled, or has a slight build-up of yellow wax or weathered sealers, the shine and natural color can be brought back by gentle wet sanding and cleaning followed by a gooding polishing. Segovia Flooring Services can Help!

Home owners are now using Marble not only for floors but for counter tops or bathroom vanity tops. Marble is a substance that is much softer than stone and granite. It is actually not as porous as stone or granite, better at repelling water. What is Marble? Marble is simply compressed calcium carbonate, and if it comes in contact with acidic stuff, including ketchup, soda, lemonade and orange juice, it will dull and soak into the compressed calcium.
Cleaning with harsh chemicals can easily damage Marble. While lemon smell nice they do more harm than good for cleaning marble; and using vinegar is a no no for cleaning marble surfaces. Another thing to consider  is that abrasive powders and solutions, or those steel wool pads can cause problems. The Biggest area of concern is the bathroom; accidental hairspray dripping onto marble can mar the finish.

Diamond abrasives are an extremely important part of the restoration process of natural stone. There are many products in the market such as powders and creams that make the claim to be restoration products for stone. However, if the floor is worn to the point that the reflection is dull, these powders and creams are limited, at best, in their results. To date, the best way to restore most natural stone floors, including terrazzo, is through the honing process using different grits of diamond abrasives. This process can take anywhere from 4-10 steps depending on the level of wear on the floor. Until technology produces an improved stone restoration process, there is no substitute for the result you get from diamond abrasives.

The most common question is "how can I protect my new and expensive investment". The first step is to apply a stone sealant.
